Ingredients
For the Brownie Batter
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
4 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp espresso powder (optional, enhances chocolate flavor)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the Cream Cheese Swirl
8 oz cream cheese, softened
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Toppings
Chocolate drizzle
Mini chocolate chips
Fresh strawberries
Powdered sugar
Directions
Step 1:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
Step 2:
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
Step 3:
Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4:
Mix in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and espresso powder (if using) until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Step 5:
In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
Step 6:
Spread about ¾ of the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Step 7:
Carefully spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter.
Step 8:
Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter over the cream cheese layer.
Step 9:
Use a butter knife or skewer to gently swirl the brownie batter and cream cheese together to create a marbled pattern. Do not overmix.
Step 10:
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Step 11:
Cool completely in the pan, then refrigerate for 1 hour before slicing for clean, neat squares.
Step 12:
Cut into bars and serve as is, or drizzle with melted chocolate for an extra indulgent finish.
Tips
Use room-temperature cream cheese for the smoothest swirl.
Don’t overbake—the brownies should still have a few moist crumbs for a fudgy texture.
Refrigerating before slicing makes it easier to achieve clean, bakery-style squares.
Add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
