Ingredients
2 tubes of crescent roll dough (8 rolls each)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic. Stir well and set aside.
Remove the dough from the tubes. Roll out one tube of dough directly onto the parchment paper. Pinch the seams to seal (the dough is pre-scored into triangles, but you need one solid piece). Use a rolling pin to smooth it out. Sprinkle 1.5 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough.
Roll out the second tube of dough and pinch the seams to seal. Place it on top of the cheese layer. Pinch the edges of both dough layers together to seal. Brush the top layer with the garlic butter mixture and sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheese on top.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and use a pizza cutter to score the breadsticks while the dough is still warm. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
In the refrigerated section of grocery stores, you’ll find tubes of crescent roll dough and biscuit dough. Crescent roll dough is typically perforated into 8 triangles, which can be separated, rolled, and baked to make flaky crescent rolls. For this recipe, pinch the seams to create one solid sheet of dough.
