Ingredients
Meatballs
14 ounces ground beef
1/2 tablespoon oregano
1/2 onion, finely diced
2 sage leaves
1/4 tablespoon nutmeg, grated
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 egg
1/2 old roll, crumbled
1 cup grated Parmesan
Salt & pepper
Tomato-Cheese Sauce
Olive oil
1/2 onion, finely diced
4 thyme sprigs
7 basil leaves
1 can chopped tomatoes
2/3 cup tomato sauce
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, pressed
3/4 cup grated mozzarella
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Steps
Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the meatballs.
Shape them into balls and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 18 minutes.
Tomato-Cheese Sauce
For the sauce, add some olive oil to a cast-iron pan.
Sauté the onions, then add remaining sauce ingredients and let simmer over low heat.
Add the meatballs to the sauce, top with grated cheese and bake for 8 minutes.
