Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans (toasted)
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Pan
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix the Base
In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
Step 3: Add Eggs and Vanilla
Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until fully combined.
Step 4: Add Dry Ingredients
Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined — do not overmix.
Step 5: Fold in Pecans
Add the chopped toasted pecans and fold gently into the batter.
Step 6: Bake
Pour batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
Step 7: Cool and Slice
Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares for neat slices — or enjoy warm for an extra gooey bite.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
