Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread

Servings 5

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add Eggs & Flavor: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Incorporate Buttermilk: Mix in the buttermilk until fully blended.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined (do not overmix).
  • Fold in Pecans: Gently stir in the chopped pecans for even distribution.
  • Bake: Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Serving Suggestion:
  • This rich, nutty bread is perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy snack paired with coffee or tea. Enjoy!
