Prep & Preheat:
Preheat oven to 275°F (140°C) for fan-forced or 320°F (160°C) for conventional.
Line two cupcake tins with liners.
Make the Batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add softened butter and mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, oil, yogurt, vanilla, and tequila (if using).
Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry until just combined.
Flavor & Color:
Divide the batter into two portions.
Mix pink/red gel + strawberry flavoring into one half.
Mix yellow gel + mango flavoring into the other half.
Layer & Bake:
Pipe alternating layers of strawberry and mango batter into the liners.
Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool completely on a wire rack.
Prepare the Frosting:
Divide the buttercream in two.
Color/flavor one half strawberry (pink/red), the other mango (yellow).
Decorate:
Lightly dip cupcake tops in water, then roll in sugar for a "margarita rim" effect.
Pipe swirls of both frostings on each cupcake.
Garnish with a lime wedge and strawberry half.
